About Trail time

The Nebraska Horse Trails Committee of the Nebraska Horse Council is sponsoring a trail riding program to award equestrians for riding or driving their horses throughout the year!  Trail Time provides a forum to record your riding time.  Set your annual goal & start riding today!  Any horse, any time!

Trail Time provides the NHTC with important data on horse trail usage in our state.  These statistics will be used to preserve our current riding resources and for the promotion of new trails.  Join today to begin accumulating hours!  Earn recognition for your favorite pastime – horse trail riding!

Trail Time Awards

Participants who complete a Trail Time enrollment form & submit appropriate fees will receive a Trail Time jacket patch.  Chevrons will be awarded upon competition of the designated riding milestones. Award recipients will be recognized on the NHC website and in the Nebraska Horse Expo program*.  In addition, there will be special awards for participation in NHTC trail events.

Costs

Enrollment for Nebraska Horse Council Members (including association members) is $10 per person annually.  Additional family members at $5 each.  Non-members may enroll for $15 per person annually.  Funds from this program will be used for the continued support of Trail Time and the improvement & promotion of horse trails in Nebraska.

Program Guidelines

1.  Although geared toward trail riding, this program awards riders for all saddle or driving time, including competition hours.  This program provides an equal opportunity for all participants regardless of riding discipline.

2.  Only actual time in the saddle or cart should be logged.  Grooming and staging time are not eligible.

3.  Riding time is based on the honor system.  Anyone knowingly falsifying information will be disqualified without refunds and will be ineligible for future enrollment.

4.  Riders must be enrolled in the program and paid proper fees to participate.  Each rider is responsible for submitting his or her hours for consideration.

5.  Riders must use appropriate forms for submitting their riding time.  Electronic logs may be available soon.

6. Hours are logged for the rider on any horse or mule.  Ownership is not required.

7.  Chevrons will be considered upon the completion of 50, 100, 250, 500, 750 and 1,000 hours.  Additional awards will be considered every 250 hours thereafter.  Hours are logged in 1/4 hour increments.

8.  Logging hours will begin with the date the application is received and will be valid for that calendar year, renewable annually.  Hours cannot be logged when membership has lapsed.  For Expo recognition, hours must be submitted by January 15 of that year to meet printing deadlines.
